History
Paulsen Construction Inc. was foundedĀ more thanĀ 50 years ago by Tom Paulsen after emigrating from Denmark to the US in 1950.
Tom had been classically trained in the European tradition of Master Carpentry and schooled in architecture and he applied these skills to his new company. The company was dedicated to building homes with the utmost attention to detail and old world craftsmanship. By 1967 his distinguished career had been credited with eight “homes of the month”, as well as in 1957 the American Institute of Architects (A.I.A) “Home of the Year”. Eventually this passion for building was passed on to his son Chris.
Chris Paulsen started working for his father in 1976, at the age of 16 as an apprentice and was trained in the same classical methods as his father had been. By the time Chris was 18, he was a framing foreman and from there he was trained into a Master Carpenter. Chris was able to work as a carpenter and attend the University of Washington in the school of Architecture. After finishing his studies, he made a career choice to follow in his father’s foot steps. By the time Chris was 25, he was promoted to Superintendent of large projects specializing in multi million dollar homes.
In January of 2000, Tom Paulsen, at the relatively young age of 77, decided it was time to retire. Chris Paulsen has continued in the family tradition of building only the finest quality homes and remodels.
